dusting off
That’s what I’m doing with this here blog. I upgraded to WordPress 2.5 this morning and, boy howdy, that admin interface is nice. I’m not even minding so much that I can’t use the nifty plugin that used to simplify the admin interface and make it all OSX-like. The admin end of 2.5 is ajaxy and widget happy, which is lovely. Although I did experience a quick moment of panic when I couldn’t spot my draft posts right away, but a bit of hunting revealed that they now live under the “Manage” tab (rather than the “Write” tab). My biggest disappointment is that Ultimate Tag Warrior (which is what I used to use to tag posts) doesn’t work in 2.5. I’ve known for a while that it was no longer being upgraded for new versions of WP, so it’s not a total shock, but it means that I have to now figure out a way to import all those old tags into some new tagging doodad*.
So, anyway. This time around, the bi-monthly blog dust-off is occasioned by Computers in Libraries, which is where I will be hanging starting tomorrow. The Academic Library 2.0 crew gets together again for another preconference on Sunday, which I’m seriously looking forward to. Then there’s a unique little session called “Pecha Kucha” on Tuesday, where a bunch of us get to “talk” about 2.0 technologies using images alone (with a bit of accompanying narrative). I’m working on my slides for that one right now and, wow, not easy.
Looking forward to catching up with all my peeps and hopefully meeting a few new ones!
* Updated later: Would you lookee there, there’s a tag importer right in the admin area. Nifty.
