what would you like to know?

If you were planning to attend a presentation on the topic of implementing a search application on an OPAC, what would you like to know?

I’m presenting about our Endeca implementation at Access this week and I’m in the throes of presentation prep at the moment. I think I’ve got most of the good stuff covered but I thought I’d put the question out there so that I can make sure to address the burning questions and other need-to-know details. I plan on fleshing out the content in a well-annotated presentation (which I’ll link to here for anyone who is interested & not at Access), so if there’s something you’d really like to know about our implementation, or about the process, let me know? Thanks!

How much did it cost – not in product prices, but in staff time – including research, planning, comparison of other solutions (including OSS), preparation, and actual implementation.

Also, what were the key points that made the decisions as far as the selection of that particular solution versus the other options.

Ongoing costs that you are either paying or expect to pay, including the staff pieces.

Ditto the comment on staff time — what did the implementation look like in terms of staff time, necessary customization, and vendor support?

What are the two best things about it?

What are the two things you wish you’d done differently?

What are the two things you wish it could do but can’t?

hi Amanda, I’d be interested to know exactly what was the length of time between Mac agreeing to a contract with Endeca, and the new OPAC being up and running?
