five things

Stephen tagged me for the five things meme that’s been going around. So, here you go, five things you probably don’t know about me:

  • My M.A. thesis topic was female spirituality and devotional literature in late Medieval England. I still find hagiography utterly fascinating.
  • I used to be terrified of public speaking. Then I started teaching info lit classes and presenting at conferences and I found out that I was actually pretty good at teaching/speaking about things I believe in and that I’m passionate about. Nowadays, you give me a podium and I won’t shut up.
  • I’ve only ever broken one bone in my body: the fourth metacarpal in my right hand.
  • The first job I ever had was working in a lottery booth in a mall. I hated everything about it.
  • I spent a fair bit of time in Italy as a kid. My parents both worked for Italian companies and traveled to Milan every summer for a number of years, and my sister and I got to tag along. We did a whole lot of traveling when I was growing up and I feel extremely fortunate for having had that opportunity.

That was fun, thanks Stephen! Want to play along? Consider yourself tagged!

Hope everyone is having a lovely holiday season. I have grand plans to start posting regularly, so stay tuned!

If I were allowed, I would tag you for one more best thing [Not that Six is auspicious on the holy eve.]
That is, See also reference for your blog’s title.
The title is very creative and a great visualization of the Library 2.0 (a tag which Stephen will envy).
Anyways, happy holidays.
This is not spam comment.
I wish to share something with you.
My 2007 resolution is a friendly deal to get more comments at my blog and promptly reciprocate.
Best wishes for 2007.

Hi,

I agree with your second point about being able to have confidence when public speaking. You are right with the way you over came your fear. You just have to simply get out there and do it.

You also need to haev a good understanding of your audience. This way you can make sure there is a match between your message and your audience. If you want some more info about understanding your audience, visit my website http://www.executivespeaking.com.au
