del.icio.us libraries?

From Joanne, a blogwithoutalibrary.net reader:

Do you know of any public libraries using del.icio.us as an alternative to list of recommended websites? We’re thinking of doing this and are curious to know if/how others are doing it.

A great question! I’m curious about academic libraries using del.icio.us too. If your library is on del.icio.us, do let us know (via comment below or email). Thank you!

Update: some good stuff in the comments. Thanks & keep ‘em coming!

Here’s my list (there’s only 2 right now):

If you find others please let me know so I can add them to my list.

The Thomas Ford Memorial Library also uses del.icio.us and syndicates it on their Web site. http://www.fordlibrary.org/links/

Yes, I run a delicious site for internal use and for our Institution’s global advisory panels.

Unfortunately it’s not for publish consumption as its more of a strategic tool. I currently have 1500 items indexed and the aim is to eventually encourage others to post and refine the categories.

I’ve tried Furl, Spurl and RawSugar, but all of these lack the wonderful simplicity of delicious (although Spurl does have a neat sidebar for searching).

San Mateo City’s Library (not mine…I work for the San Mateo County Library) has one as well: http://del.icio.us/SanMateoLibrary. Incidentally, San Mateo is also home to YouTube. Rock on.

We’re looking at doing this to open our static reference pages up to contributions from all staff and to make the content more accessible to our public. But we’d like to organize them by topic, not date. Anyone know of a library or organization that’s done that?
