blogsearch for library love
One of the ways I’m using Google’s Blog Search is to find blogs with the word “library” in post titles (via feed, of course). Why? A couple of reasons: (1) it helps find new library blogs for the list; and (2) it brings up posts about libraries from random bloggers. Posts that fall into the latter category are the ones I look forward to most (not to take anything away from all the great library blogs I’ve found as a result of this search!), it’s been a pretty affirming exercise. Here is a new favourite that graced my aggregator this morning:
Libraries have to be one of the most incredibly amazing institutions of the civilized world. For minimal or zero fee, you have access to troves of the most wonderful substance on Earth: books. Freely yours is the most ancient and modern art, literature, knowledge, and thought, ranging from the sublime to the odd. Somewhere in those shelves is a book, or a video or DVD or tape, on any subject your heart desires, or a masterful work of fiction or poetry that may change your life forever. I hope heaven has a library.
The full post is here and definitely worth a read (and, surely you too are thinking, dude, heaven IS a library!).
